Christopher Barclay serves as the District 4 representative on the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education. He was elected to his second four-year term on November 6, 2012, after being appointed to the Board on December 9, 2006. Barclay has twice served as president of the Board in 2010 and 2013, and vice president in 2009 and 2012. He is chair the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee and a member of the Fiscal Management Committee.
In 2010, Barclay was appointed by the Governor to the Maryland Council for Educator Effectiveness. He has served in a number of volunteer leadership roles with the Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA), including Montgomery Blair Cluster coordinator and MCCPTA Nominating Committee chair. He also has served on the NAACP Parents’ Council. He was active in the development of the Downcounty Consortium as a member of the Downcounty Consortium Base Area Study Committee. In addition to Barclay’s volunteer education activities, he also has been involved in community leadership roles on the Takoma Foundation Board of Directors and the Takoma Park Department of Recreation Advisory Committee.
Christopher Barclay has worked in the telecommunications industry since 1993. He is a 1984 graduate of Columbia College of Chicago. He has three children who have graduated from MCPS.
