We are pleased to introduce you to one of our featured Community Partners!
Story Tapestries is a youth-centered, performance-based organization that has been bringing art to local and international communities for the last 12 years. Their mission is “Exposing the community, nationally and internationally to the concept of arts integration as a multi-faceted arts approach that seeks to affect all aspects of our life on a daily basis.”
The partnership between Story Tapestries and Arts on the Block centers around the Explore-Create-Connect (ECC) program at Briggs Chaney Middle School (BCMS). Together, we are have offered creative, emotional, and developmental growth through arts-infused experiential education out of school time. Specifically, for ECC, Story Tapestries provided a hip-hop poet/teaching artist (Bomani Armah) who engaged youth in self-expression through the arts. Like AOB, Story Tapestries also employs a world-class network of artists, educators, and community members who are dedicated to implementing the arts in education.
We are looking forward to exploring even more synergies with Story Tapestries, through Explore-Create-Connect and other AOB programs, as well as with the larger arts community in ensuring that the arts are integrated into the everyday lives of our neighbors.
