Rising 6th grade–8th grade (middle school) young creatives with a passion for visual art and a willingness to collaborate and explore various art media.
YAM Summer Program will take place on June 24th through August 16th, a total of eight weeks, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.
Registration is open now, for $400 per week.
YAM Summer Program will meet in person at our studio at 900 Wayne Ave, Suite 1A in Silver Spring, MD.

Day 1: Introduction to elements of art (line, shape, form, texture, value, color, space)
Day 2: Focus on lines and shapes, drawing exercises
Day 3: Exploring value and shading techniques, still life drawing
Day 4: Introduction to color theory, color wheel exercises
Day 5: Composition and perspective in drawing

Day 2: Color mixing exercises, creating a color palette
Day 3: Still life painting, focusing on composition and lighting

Day 2: Composition techniques: rule of thirds, leading lines, framing
Day 3: Portrait photography, exploring lighting and mood

Day 2: Drawing and sketching digitally, exploring different brushes and tools
Day 3: Digital painting techniques, creating a digital masterpiece
Day 4: Graphic design basics, typography and layout
Day 5: Interactive session: creating digital collages and mixed media artworks

Day 1: Introduction to printmaking techniques
Day 2: Linocut printing, carving and printing simple designs
Day 3: Linocut printing, creating intricate patterns
Day 4: Linocut printing, printing on different surfaces
Day 5: Printmaking project, combining various techniques to create a multi-layered print

Day 1: Explore collage basics with examples and hands-on practice
Day 2: Collect and incorporate found objects into collages
Day 3: Experiment with mixing various materials in collages
Day 4: Create themed collages using planned compositions
Day 5: Reflect on the week’s creations and exhibit finished collages

Day 1: Introduction to mosaic art, history and techniques, designing a mosaic pattern, color theory in mosaics
Day 2: Tile cutting and preparation
Day 3: Mosaic assembly and grouting
Day 4: Group mosaic project, creating a larger mosaic artwork altogether
Day 5: Finish Group mosaic
